How can anything take the place of the Holy Gospel? Nothing can. But that Holy Cross contains within itself the whole gospel: The Gospel of the Cross

The Great Fast should free us from our extra useless weight: the weight of our addiction to various sins, to overeating, to drinking too much, to being lazy about prayer, to all manner of sins of the flesh, but, above all, to being unloving and unforgiving to others – to our enemies, our family, and our friends: Fasting & Forgiveness

 

 

When our love is perfected, it will cast out of us any need of fear. Until then, let us have a little fear: The Least

 

It would certainly seem to be true that there may be such a thing as divinely-inspired righteous anger, but let us tread with great caution and fear when approaching the claim that some outburst of ours qualifies: The anger of man does not work the righteousness of God.

If we think we’re already there, we’ve got a long way to go: No one is good but God alone.
